How to Train Your Dragon 2 REVIEW:

Hiccup and Toothless are back and better than ever in the second part of a planned trilogy of the films. The movie takes place five years after the events of the first film where the residents of Berk and dragons are coexisting peacefully, but trouble in paradise occurs after Hiccup, Jay Baruchel, (This is the End, Goon) is asked to take on the unwanted task of becoming the next chief of the tribe by his father and current Cheif Stoick, Gearld Butler (300, Olympus Has Fallen). Things become more complicated when Hiccup discovers that not only is his mother, Cate Blanchet (Lord of the Rings series) is still alive, but she is basically a dragon whisper. Oh, yeah and then there is also this guy named Drago, Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) who has is eyes set on conquering the land with his dragon army. He's a real dick.

Not that Drago.

The film also stars America Ferrea as Hiccup's ass kicking girlfriend, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Craig Ferguson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, and Kit Harrington trying to learn how to ride a dragon. (You know nothing Jon Snow.)

I'm not crying, you're crying!

Action packed and visually stunning, this film is even more emotionally powerful than the first. I heard quite a few cry/sniffs from the audience during a few scenes... and possibly from myself. New comer Cate Blanchet does an awesome job at portraying an accurate description of someone who has lived solo with dragons for 20 years only to then be reunited with her son. But the character that really steals the show is Toothless. All of your favorite scenes will involve him. He's like a cool loveable dog that just happens to be a fire breathing dragon.

WANT!

A third film is planned for a June 17th, 2016 release date even though the film is under performing at the box office compared to the first movie. No plot details have been released yet.

MANCHILD RATING: 4/5
